OBJECTIVES

The overall objectives of UNMIRA Nepal is to analyse and quantify how changes in the climate, such as temperature, precipitation and run-off, affect our potential to achieve the Environmental Objectives, which are influenced by long-range transport of air pollution, to reduce poverty, enhance woman health control cancer and empower women, deprived and disadvantaged communities of Nepal.

The specific objectives are:

To conserve natural heritage: The goals are to protect and restore the biodiversity within the ecosystems of an area.
To reduce the incidence, morbidity and mortality of cancer and to improve the quality of life of cancer patients in a defined population, through the systematic implementation of evidence-based interventions for prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.
To introduce production technologies that safeguard human health and environment,
To organize, train and institutionalize local community groups so that development is locally owned, managed and sustained.
To describe and analyse synergies and conflicts between national and international measures that aim to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants in order to achieve the set objectives.
To improve our understanding of the underlying processes in order to develop reliable forecasts and scenarios for making progress towards the Environmental Objectives; improve input data for existing models.
